Internal alterations to a previously adapted home for a client living with cerebral palsy.

Our client has lived with cerebral palsy since birth, he is reliant on a wheelchair and requires 24-hour care. The property was initially bought when our client was a young child, and adaptations are now required to suit his new needs.

Brief

Our brief is to adapt the already adapted home, to meet the client's new needs.

The existing hydrotherapy pool was now too small and has been replaced to create a large therapy room with bi-folding doors leading to a covered patio area. Internal walls have been removed to provide a large specialist bedroom with ceiling track and hoist to access both the therapy room and specialist bathroom. Doorways within the home have also been widened to accommodate the client's wheelchair, allowing him full access to all living spaces within the family room.

What we did

+ Feasibility Report for several options
+ A planning application was submitted for a certificate of lawfulness to gain permission for the bi-fold doors and alterations to windows
+ Building Regulations
+ Contract Administration - we have been on site since November 2020

Accessibility Features

+ Level access to all parts of the property, as the previous adaptations did not allow the client to access the family lounge
+ Therapy Room
+ Ceiling Hoist and track access to the Therapy Room, Bathroom and Bedroom

Hoist System supplied by Innova Care Concepts.
