Following his accident, Paul required a home that could be adapted to meet his needs. When searching for a home, he wanted to be near to his family to enable him to live as independent a life as possible.
After searching for a suitable property, Pauls family found a bungalow, close to them that would only require minimal adaptations. The house is in a quiet location and was ideal for taking Paul out in his wheelchair for some fresh air.
The France + Associates team visited the property to establish which adaptations could be made, based on Paul's requirements. Following a meeting with Paul's family, Case Manager and Occupational Therapist, the team at France + Associates produced designs which were tweaked to ensure the home best met Paul’s needs.
Paul’s family were determined to create the very best home for Paul, which included a spacious accessible bedroom. The France + Associates team even utilised an existing outbuilding to create an adjoining shower room with hoist to convey Paul between the rooms.
Other adaptations made to the bungalow include a therapy room, a spare bedroom for Paul's father to stay in and a fully accessible garden.
Sadly, Paul passed away in November of last year.
John and his wife are currently reviewing Paul's home with Amy at France + Associates, to see if sufficient alterations can be made to the adaptations. If they can be, they are considering the possibility of making it their home and moving into the property.
“France and Associates have been great throughout this entire process. Amy has been our main point of contact and has been on the ball from the very start. I have been able to make suggestions, which have been taken on board by them to help make the house low maintenance. The team have been a pleasure to work with, and Amy is now looking at plans to make the home suitable for me and my wife.”
