Top Tips for Glow Week

At F+A we are supporting the Child Brain Injury Trust’s Glow Week campaign and we’re shining a light on the importance of visibility and awareness, reminding everyone: Be Seen, Not Hurt.

As the evenings grow darker, staying visible isn’tjust about standing out - it’s about staying safe. That’s what Glow Week is all about!

Whether you’re walking, cycling, running, driving, or just heading home after a late lecture, a few small steps can make a big difference. Here are our top tips to help you glow smart and stay safe this weekand every week.

1 Wear Bright or Reflective Clothing

Dark outfits might look stylish, but they blend into the night. Add a reflective jacket, bright backpack, or even a glow-in-the-dark wristband. The goal? Make sure others can see you from a distance - especially drivers and cyclists.

Top tip: Reflective strips on moving parts (like running shoes or sleeves) catch attention faster than static patches.

2 Light up your Ride

If you’re cycling or scootering, front and rear lights are essential. A white front light helps you see, and a red rear light ensures others see you. Reflectors on wheels and pedals add extra sparkle and safety.

3 Stay on the Bright Side

Stick to well-lit routes whenever possible. Avoid shortcuts through dark areas, even if they seem faster. Streetlights are your best friend during Glow Week!

4 Keep Your Pets Glowing too

Your furry friends need to be seen as well! If you’re walking your dog after dark, fit them with a light-up collar, reflective coat, or glowing lead. These accessories make your pet clearly visible to drivers and cyclists. It’s a simple step that keeps both you and your pet safe on the go.

5 Ditch the Distractions

Your phone’s light may guide you, but it can also distract you. Keep your head up, earbuds low, and eyes open when crossing roads. Glow Week is about awarenessof yourself, others, and your surroundings.

6 Gear Up with Glow Accessories

Reflective laces, armbands, badges, and even glowing shoelaces can make a big difference. Many are inexpensive, reusable, and fun for children to wear.

Glow Week may last seven days, but its lessons should last all year. Keep your glow gear handy for evening walks, jogs, or commutesBeing visible is a life-saving habit.

This Glow Week, let’s celebrate safety, awareness, and community. Together, we can make sure everyone shines bright and gets home safe.

Be Seen. Not Hurt. Keep Glowing.
