Our client, JT sustained injuries as a result of clinical negligence. He has significant mobility issues and has gone on to develop "Lennox Gastaut Syndrome", a rare form of intractable epilepsy with cortical visual impairment, severe/profound intellectual disability and motor disability.
We were instructed by JT's mum and solicitor to adapt and extend a property that would be safe, practical and accessible. JT suffers severe epilepsy and a key part of the design is ensuring his mum can see him at all times.
A main priority for the client's mum, was for him to be able to be upstairs with her, so access to the first floor has been included in the design.
A day room extension off the kitchen will provide ample daylight, so JT can enjoy the surrounding countryside. The property will also include a hydrotherapy room for physiotherapy and a therapy room with ceiling hoists for ongoing therapy. There will be a ground floor specialist bathroom for ease of changing when entering the home, along with ample storage for wheelchairs.
